Ardh Kumbh Begins: Millions take holy dip in the Ganges

Seventy million people from around the world are expected to congregate at the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and a mythical third river in Allahabad in northern India to bathe in the icy waters of the holy rivers during the six-week festival of "Ardh Kumbh Mela" (Half Pitcher Festival), said to be one of the largest gatherings on earth. Fascinating to catch a glimpse of the Kumbh Mela, an event that I’ve read about. The video made me wish to return to India, which I visited in December of 2006. Of course, I realize that there will not be another such “mela” for at least 12 years.
