valmikiMaharshi Valmiki, a great sage, who lived around the beginning of the first millennium B.C. composed the Ramayana, which established his timeless fame. A contemporary of the heroes of the Ramayana, he is also the original creator of the Hindu 'sloka' - a verse form in which most of the great epics and other works are composed.

On the auspicious occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, the holy birthday of the poet-saint, which falls this Friday (October 18, 2013), we present the inspiring story of Valmiki's life - from being brought up by a family of robbers to becoming a 'maharshi' or great sage.

If it is said that Maharishi Balmiki lived in one milenia BC, are u trying to say that Lord Rama also loved at that point of time, as it is said thathe was a contemporary of Lord Ram.

Obviously, Gayatriji. They were contemporaries. Although it is not clear about the exact period/ time which is lost into oblivion, the legend continues to inspire devote masses.
