The 5 Precepts or ‘Pancha Shraddha’

Tuesday June 30, 2009
This week, we begin a new short series specially created for children with help from the Himalayan Academy and Kauai's Hindu Monastery in Hawaii. Read about the Five Precepts in the first in the series of features on the basics of Hinduism for kids.

Also known as ‘Pancha Shraddha,’ the five precepts constitute the five basic Hindu beliefs. By teaching these to sons and daughters, parents worldwide pass on the Sanatana Dharma to their children. Written by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami and illustrated by A Manivel, these first appeared in the book Dancing with Siva.
