What is Namaste?

Friday July 18, 2008
‘Namaste’ or ‘namaskar’ is the Hindu way of greeting each other. It is not a superficial gesture or mere word, but has deep spiritual significance. When we greet one another with namaste, it means, ‘may our minds meet’, indicated by the folded palms placed before the chest.

(3) DEV RAJ SHARMA, KADUNA, NIGERIA says:

NAMASTE! IT IS MADE OF TWO SANSKRIT WORDS. NAMAH+TE= NAMASTE. MEANING OF NAMAH MEANS TO SALUTE WITH PURITY. AND TE MEANS PLRAL OF HE I.E. THEY. THE QUESTION HERE IS WHAT WE MEAN BY THEY? IT MEANS THE PERSON IN YOU + THE GOD WHO RESIDES IN YOU. THAT IS WHY WE SAY NAMASTE. MEANING SALUTATIONS TO YOURSELF AND THE GOD AT THE SAME TIME.

SO, WE SHOULD SAY IT FROM OUR HEART AND NOT BY TONGUE ALONE. IT HAS REALLY DEEP SPIRITUAL SENSE. JUST BY SAYING NAMASTE IN A GOOD WAY YOU CAN WIN HEART OF MANY.

SO ONCE AGAIN NAMASTE TO ALL OF YOU WHO READ THIS.
